The first 2 1/2 pages are the only part of this book about the French Bulldog (a bit of history) the rest is just general information about dogs (with the words 'French Bulldog' thrown in from time to time). No photos, no diagrams and no finger puppets.The first 2 1/2 pages are also in a slightly smaller font than the rest of the book leading me to believe that it is a cut and paste job from the rest of the authors books.
This book did turn out to be the perfect size to place under the leg of a shelf that had a wobble however, so I gave it a star for that.
For information on French Bulldogs you would get more from reading the July 2012 issue of 'Car and Driver'.

Great training book for French Bulldogs! I am so impressed with the amount of information I found in this book. Mr. Ridgeford organized his book really well, too. I love how the tips are chopped up into bite-sized chunks! Plus the chapter headings perfectly describe the information. He even writes about how to get something out of your puppy's belly without surgery (of course, you should always consult a vet first!). But I recommend this book highly!
So I have a French Bulldog puppy that I got from a rescue and she has a very stubborn personality. I needed some help figuring out her temperament and the little quirks that make her a "Bulldog". This book helped me a lot with the basic tips on raising her. It isn't really for a more advanced owner. I had to get another book to tell me more information and in-depth about some things like potty training. Overall, a great basic book.
Good enough but could use more pictures and more tips specific to the French Bulldog breed. Not much info that I didn't already know about Frenchies.
A nice book that gives several good hints to obedience training your French Bulldog companion! I'm looking forward to applying all it's suggestions! Thank you!
This Book is filled with typos, Chapters 3 and 16 are exactly the same (seriously, word for word), and it has only very basic information about having a dog, if you have ever had or even seen a dog before, you already have most of this information. Nothing specific about French Bulldogs, and no detailed information on how to raise a puppy. I would save your money, and find a different book.
I've read a few other Frenchie books that I found to be much more informative and helpful. The biggest problems I had with the book were 1) extremely vague at some points- I didn't finish the book feeling confident that I could follow his advice 2) not very informative- I want to know WHY he recommends using certain training techniques 3) terribly written- I found this painful to read...it was disorganized with plenty of typos and grammatical errors. I'd recommend that you purchase The Breed Lover's Guide- the two books have a lot of overlap in techniques but BLG gives you a lot more information and background.
I didn't find this book to be helpful at all. The author didn't dive into specifics for the major endeavors such as house training and leash walking. The chapters gave overall good advice, but far too general to be useful. French Bulldogs as a breed are incredibly stubborn, yes we all know that, so how do I get around that with an adult dog? I am looking for other books. I second the other poster as well who mentioned the poor grammar and misspellings. It was very painful to spend money on a book that didn't go through a copy edit. I'm not an advanced owner by any means, but detail and explanations would be useful in this book.
